seven months

i can't believe that we have a 7 month old! davis is growing like crazy! it seems like everyday he is learning something new.  he and i are so enjoying our last few days together before school starts back for me.  here's a little of what davis has been up to this month.

• first month not going in for a weight check, so not sure of actual weight, but our scale says he's close to 16 lbs. or so and he is 26 inches long.
• we have a sitter! can sit on his own for long periods of time.  loves to sit up and play with his toys and sit in our laps to see what's going on.
• has tried cantaloupe, blueberries, white potatoes, corn, peaches, papaya, and beef since last month.  he loves blueberries and peaches mixed in with his oatmeal, and loved eating steak last week.  such a little man!
• had his first cold this month.  nothing serious, just a stuffy nose and dry cough, but we went to the doctor, just in case, after he'd had it for a few days.  it finally ran it's course and he is doing great!
• first tooth came in about 2 weeks ago! it is his bottom left, and we can see the other bottom tooth, it just hasn't broken the gum, yet.  was a little fussy for a few days when it was coming in, but liked gnawing on frozen teethers and ice cubes in his mesh feeder.
• favorite toys are his musical turtle, anything that makes noise, rattles, touch and feel books, and things that make a crinkle sound.
• likes to read books most of the time and his favorite are the touch and feel baby books.
• likes to kick his feet and splash in the bathtub and chew on bath toys while he gets bathed.
• we tried napping in the crib for a few weeks and we were having a very difficult time with it, so we are back to napping in the swing...hey, i'm just thankful it goes up to 25 pounds and he's a small baby.
• is learning how to wave hello and bye-bye
• gives kisses to mommy, which i absolutely LOVE!
• likes to touch people's faces, and especially likes to touch his daddy's beard
• loves to jump in the jumperoo at grammy's and is learning to jump in the jump up at home
• loves being outside
• is quite impatient when it comes to eating...we usually can't shovel food in fast enough
• has learned how to whine when he doesn't like something
• for about a week, he did this fake coughing thing and thought it was hilarious
• pushes up on his arms and gets up on his knees, but not at the same time yet
• likes to bounce when he's sitting up
• likes to grab mommy's phone
• makes lots of "aaa" and baaa" sounds
• we are working on "mama" and "dada"...he mouths mama, but doesn't say it yet
• puts everything in his mouth
• loves to look at "baby davis" in the mirror
• hair is still spikey, but we are working on training it to lay down
• eyes are still a grayish color, with a very light brown around his pupil
• is ticklish under his chin and around his collarbone...he gives the best laughs when he's being tickled!
• likes to grab the song book at church when we are singing
• is hot natured, like adam
• is not being swaddled anymore to sleep...we transitioned to sleep sacks for a while, and now we are down to just pajamas
• visited moccasin creek state park and played in the swing for the first time on the playground...he LOVED it!
• has his first spend the night at grammy's house when adam and i went out for our anniversary

that's all for this month....he is growing by leaps and bounds!  we are so glad that he is a healthy and happy (most of the time) baby...now if we could just get him to sleep better...
